About The Napa Valley Tour Guide Guild

The Guild, established in 1999, is dedicated to high standards in tourism. We meet regularly and attend classes and field trips. NVTGG serves its members as a forum for education and training, representation in the marketplace, job referral, certification, compensation guidelines, and promotion of the Napa/Sonoma wine country as a travel destination. The Guild sets forth by-laws, a code of ethics, and professional standards accepted by each member.

"Who better to visit an area with than a local resident"

We enjoy showing our clients the diversity and flavor of the Napa and Sonoma wine country. The climate and soils of the valley have created wines which now compete with the worlds best. The larger, well known wineries welcome visitors and the smaller family wineries give a personal touch. We have both historic wineries dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries and state of the art modern wineries.  The architecture is varied and interesting; winery owners come from all walks of life. The annual output of the wineries varies from a few hundred cases to several thousand. Caves snake their way under the hills and do the work of aging wines with perfect temperature and humidity.

"These guides really listen to your interests as first time or repeat visitor. They go that extra step to ensure you carry away special memories. They can direct you to transportation companies or guide you in your car. My husband and I found this an enjoyable and practical way to see the wine country." We loved their selections of wineries and restaurant choice to die for."

The wine industry has flourished and because wine is a companion to food, the restaurant scene has flourished as well. The wineries produce still wines, brandy, ports, and sparkling wines. In addition to the wineries we have barrel makers, bottle makers, cork factories, label designers, and breweries. The valleys abound in spas and lovely hotels. The well manicured vineyards are lush and green when the hills surrounding them are golden. Once the harvest is over the leaves on the vines turn a colorful yellow and red. This unique part of our country is well worth a visit.
